Dr. Ajit Swaran Singh is a 2014 inductee of the Kiwi Indian Hall of Fame. Singh is a New Zealand District Court Judge known for his judicial service and long-standing involvement in community-focused initiatives.
Born in Labasa, Fiji, into a family with roots in agriculture, Singh moved to New Zealand, where he pursued his legal education at Victoria University of Wellington. He built his early career through legal practice in both Fiji and New Zealand before being appointed to the District Court bench.
He has served as a Judge in New Zealand’s District Courts, including in the Auckland and Manukau jurisdictions, contributing to a wide range cases over the course of his judicial career.
Beyond the courtroom, Singh has been associated with community engagement initiatives, particularly in areas relating to education, youth development, and efforts to address family violence. He has also participated in public awareness campaigns such as White Ribbon initiatives promoting the prevention of violence.
His work has included involvement in legal education and occasional international engagement, including connections with the Pacific region, particularly Fiji.
Singh’s career reflects a combination of judicial responsibility and community service, with recognition across both professional and community spheres.
